Company
The idea for Pacifico was conceived back in 2011 but we didn't start selling our product until February 2015.
Founded by two mates, Alain Guglielmino and Nick Guzowski. We conceived the idea, whilst we were living abroad. We were living in Italy and Poland and decided to catch up during the European Summer, so we met each other and some other mates on the Island of Hvar, in Croatia.
We identified our shared passion for eyewear when we both turned up to Hvar, rocking some vintage classics we had found on our travels. We had both been scouring historical European cities and towns for vintage eyewear, which we would then have fitted with a UV coated lenses. After a bit of discussion about the frames and the lack of comparable styles and quality shades in the market at that time, we agreed there was a good opportunity to create a brand that featured timeless frames that are well made and aren't exorbitantly priced.
Being from Australia, which has a particularly harsh environment we wanted to build frames that were durable enough to withstand any adventure and feature lenses of the same durability, clarity and protection. This is why we chose the materials we use and why we carefully quality control 100% of our eyewear.
It took a couple of years, until we had made our way back to Bondi, for us to decide to take the leap and begin to work on the brand. We launched the brand in 2015, and the rest is history.
We named it "Pacifico", after the latin word "PA-CI-FI-CO", derived from the Latin word meaning "peaceful", and paying homage to the Pacific Ocean at the shores of Bondi Beach. The brand stands for the tranquility of the coastal lifestyle.

Product
At the heart of Pacifico Optical is our pride and commitment to producing eyewear of the finest quality.
ACETATE:
The frames are hand crafted from plant based cellulose acetate sourced from Italian supplier Mazzucchelli and Japanese supplier, Daicel.
HINGES:
The frames are held together by Italian engineered 5-joint nickel silver rivet hinges from manufacturer Visottica to ensure quality and precision - built to withstand the knocks and bumps of a true adventure.
LENSES:
Sourced from Carl Zeiss Vision and Essilor Sun Solutions, the lenses are made from CR-39 and Polyamide – a plastic polymer which is shatterproof and light weight. We offer both Polarised and Non-Polarised lenses.
LENS COATINGS:
The interior of each lens is coated with a multilayer anti-reflective coating to reduce glare, whilst the exterior is hard-coated to prevent scratching and also with a hydrophobic coating which repels water and dust from the surface of the lens, making them easy to clean.
HORIZON LINKS:
Our signature nickel silver horizon links at the tips of the temple arms will connect to our glasses cords as a convenient retainer and to prevent losing the frames from your head, overboard or overland!

Care & Warranty Information
Our lenses are treated with a scratch-resistant coating, but are not scratch-proof. Lenses should be cleaned with a microfibre cloth, do not use your shirt, towels or other random fabrics, these can damage the lenses anti-reflective coating and may leave marks or scratches on the lenses over time. Use the lens-safe spray provided with your purchase from Pacifico. You may also use, alcohol or water.
Always keep your glasses or sunglasses in their protective case when you are not wearing them. Extreme heat or cold way cause the lens or frame to warp.

Sustainability
Yes, our sunglasses are sustainable. In fact we have one of the most sustainable sunglasses products on the market. Read more about our sustainability efforts below.
ACETATE
The acetate we use for our frames is a plant based acetate that is sourced from tree pulp & wood chips and made into a fibre based acetate.
The acetate is biodegradable, meaning it will break down and decompose over time.
LENS
Our lenses are made using processes to reduce the amount of chemical wastage. Our lens manufacturers are leading the industry in doing this.
The coatings technology we use is a sustainable premium sunlens, engineered with ground breaking renewable plant sources and are independently lab tested in the USA.
They are USDA BioPreferred certified and full ASTM D6866 rated.
Our lenses are 60% more sustainable than PC, shatter resistant lens whilst at the same time offer same quality and clarity than any other lens on the market.
PACKAGING
All of our packaging is made from recycled paper materials.
When we send out our sunglasses we protect the box with recycled paper as opposed to bubble wrap.

Shipping & Returns
Delivery - AUSTRALIA
- Deliveries will be made by post / a carrier instructed by us to the address stipulated in your order. You must ensure that someone is present to accept delivery.
- Dispatch - Non-prescription in stock products will be dispatched within 1-2 business days.
- Prescription orders - take an estimated 5-7 business days to create and another 2-5 business days (metropolitan) to deliver.
- Australian metropolitan areas - We estimate you should receive your Goods within 2-4 business days of placing your order.
- In non-metropolitan areas - An additional 1-3 business days is required.
- You will receive an email confirmation once your order has been dispatched. This email will contain a Tracking Number.

- Flat shipping rate of $20 applies to North America, United Kingdom, Europe and New Zealand. Other shipping charges apply to shipping to the rest of the world.
- Shipments outside of Australia may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are the responsibility of the recipient. Since duties and taxes vary by country and by what was purchased, we are not able to provide an estimate of the cost. Please contact your local customs office for more information.

- In Australia, we ship your order via Australia Post Express Service.
INTERNATIONAL
- International orders are shipped via DHL Express Service.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES - AUSTRALIA
FREE* SHIPPING AND RETURNS
- If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, you may return the Goods within 30 days of the purchase date, and we will exchange or refund you the purchase price.
- All goods must be returned in a new and unused conditions with all packaging included. Any goods not in their original condition will not be eligible for a refund or exchange.
- We do not accept returns or exchanges on prescription or any other customised eyewear.
RETURN INSTRUCTIONS
a. Fill in the return form with your details and reason for return or visit our Returns Centre to submit your application for return. Once approved, you will be sent a shipping label that you can print out.
If you are returning using the returns form, go to step B.
b. Remove the address sticker on the envelope in which you received the goods.
c. Peel the return sticker containing your order ID from the invoice you received with the goods and stick it where the address sticker was on the envelope in which you received the goods.
d. Pack all Goods into their original packaging.
e. Place all the Goods into the envelope upon which you placed the return sticker, including the invoice.
f. Seal the envelope and return to a post box or post office for dispatch.
g. Include our tax invoice and delivery slip.
h. Returns within Australia are free with the reply paid address.
i. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of receiving the Goods.
- If there are any items missing from the returned goods, you will be charged a small fee. Refer below;

- Place all Goods into their original packaging and place your return with a tracking service.
- International are at the expense of the purchaser.
- Refunds will be processed within 30 days of receiving the Goods.
If you are charged customs or import duties, this means you are an International customer. Please read the below.
Foreign taxes, duties and import restrictions
- If you are not in Australia, we have no knowledge of, and no responsibility for, the laws in your country.
- You are responsible for purchasing Goods which you are lawfully able to import and for the payment of import duties and taxes of any kind levied in your country.

Warranty & Guarantee
- We are that confident in the quality of our products that we offer a product lifetime warranty of up to 3 years.
- If the product is faulty as a result of a manufacturing, material or fitting defect, we have you covered.
Specifically, we cover all manufacturing defects, including:
- Lenses that are not performing as they should be. This may include distortion in the polarisation or other blemishes caused by manufacturing.
- Hinges that may have snapped under no pressure or hinges that have popped out of their rivets.
We do not cover the following:
- Cosmetic damages including scratches, scuffs and bends caused by general wear and tear or from not properly looking after your eyewear.
- Broken or snapped hinges caused by pressure placed on them, such as sitting on your frames or hugging a friend whilst they are strapped around your neck.
- Any eyewear that was found or purchased second hand. You must have proof of purchase.
It is up to the discretion of Pacifico Optical, in all their capacity and knowledge to decide the cause of a defect or break to a Pacifico Optical product.

Care Instructions
FRAMES
- Avoid resting your sunglasses on top of your head. This will stretch the acetate nose bridge and weaken your frames. This also dirties the lenses with oils from your head/hair.
- Do not to leave your glasses in places where they will be exposed to extreme conditions such extreme heat or extreme cold.
- When not wearing your frames, keep them in the leather protective case supplied by Pacifico with purchase.
LENSES
- Our lenses are treated with a scratch-resistant coating, but are not scratch-proof. Lenses should be cleaned with a microfibre cloth, do not use your shirt, towels or other random fabrics, these can damage the lenses anti-reflective coating and may leave marks or scratches on the lenses over time. Use the lens-safe spray provided with your purchase from Pacifico. You may also use, alcohol or water.
- Do not place your sunglasses in the sand at the beach. Sand finds its way into small places and can scratch the lens coatings.
HINGES
- Avoid placing pressure on your hinges as this can bend or break them. If you happen to bend the angle of the hinge, do not attempt to bend it back in place. This will likely snap the hinge if not done correctly.
- Be careful not to leave your sunglasses in random places such as on your car seat or lounge. Our customers often sit on them. Keep them in their protective case.
- Hinges often become loose after a certain amount of use. This is due to constantly opening and closing the temple arms. This is normal and happens with all brands. You can use the small screw driver supplied with your frames to tighten the hinges. If you have trouble doing so, please reach out and we can advise you on how to have them tightened.
- Do not wear your sunglasses in the ocean and keep them out of salt water. Salt water may deteriorate the lens coatings and rust the steel inside the sunglasses.
Eyeglasses & Health Fund Rebates
- We offer a range of Optical frames that can be fitted with all prescription lens and sun lens. Additionally, we offers the fulfilment of prescription lens, using our partner Laboratory based out of Sydney, Australia.
- To uphold Pacifico's reputation of quality, we have partnered with Carl Zeiss Optical laboratories throughout Australia to fulfil any prescription lens orders.
- Carl Zeiss, hold a reputation for producing high quality optical lens and has been in the industry for over 160 years.
- To be able to order your prescription glasses or sunglasses via our e-commerce store, you must know or have your valid eye prescription.
- You will be able to submit your prescription via the following:
- Upload your prescription to our website
- Email us your prescription.
- Fill it out yourself.
You will be prompted to do one of the above during the checkout process.
- You must also know your Pupillary Distance (PD Number) as this will be needed to complete the submission process.
- Prescriptions supplied via our online store must be valid and in date. If a wrong or invalid prescription is falsely supplied, Pacifico will not be held accountable for any prescription errors or damage to the eye that may arise, consistently.
Your PD Number is the measurement in millimetres of the distance between your two pupils.
This measurement is required for us to fulfil your prescription lens order.
- We unfortunately can not perform eye tests or measure your Pupillary Distance (PD Number).
- We can accept any prescription written by a certified optometrist as long as it is a valid prescription.
- Your PD Number should be written on your prescription. If it is not you should ring your optometrist to request it.
- Your optometrist is obliged to supply you with this number as it should come with the prescription.
- After a prescription order is place, Pacifico will lodge the order with a Carl Zeiss lab within Australia, which will take 5-7 business days to make the lens and fit them to the frame.
- Shipping will take 2-4 Business days Nation wide and 5-10 business days Internationally. A maximum total of 11 business days Nationally and 17 business days Internationally may apply to a prescription order.
Technical
Polarised sunglasses have a polarised lens with a special filter applied on the outside. This filter is designed to only allow light rays that approach your eyes vertically to filter thought. The lens will block out horizontal light waves that often bounces off reflective surfaces such as inside your car's hood and water.

Anti-reflective (AR) coating, is a coating we apply to the inside of all of our sun and optical lenses to eliminate light reflections from the inside of the lenses. The coating is generally purple or blue and can be identified visually when looking at the glasses.
